Staycation: The Sheraton Downtown Denver

From the outside, the Sheraton Denver Downtown can be very unassuming, but once you walk in you are awed by the magnificence and beauty of the inside. It is a stunning hotel that will make any guest excited for their nights stay.

The property is located right off the 16th St. mall. It has two dining facilities, The Yard House which offers a casual atmosphere with American food accompanied by a large tap list as well as Bezel, which is a high-end, swanky cocktail bar that has a small menu with yummy bites as well as fabulous curated cocktails for those that love a perfectly mixed drink.

The Sheraton has two sides with two main elevator atriums. When you walk into the main side of the Sheraton where you will check-in for your stay, you will see an inviting bar area that serves food and drink throughout the day as well as cocktails and bar fare at night. This makes grabbing a bite easy and quick for those on the go no matter the time of day. You can also walk right up to the register and grab coffee or snacks for on-the-go.

There is also a ton of seating areas throughout the front lobby. The space has been designed so you can hang out and mingle down here for hours, work from a little phone booth or meeting room, or meet with clients, friends or family outside of your room upstairs. It almost has a We Work feel in this main area, which is perfect for those traveling for business as well.

The Sheraton is the first location that is part of the hotel’s $80 million dollar revamp. The idea behind renovating this property was to not only update the hotel rooms and amenities but to start the revitalization of the 16th St. Mall. By making these updates and adding more dining experiences, not only is the Sheraton putting itself back on the map but it is a place where people want to be when visiting Denver.

The 16th St. mall steps away from the entrance, with a mall ride bus stop directly out front of the hotel. This makes it a perfect location for people wanting to adventure in downtown Denver. The location doesn’t get any better than this and the transportation is easy and convenient. You are just a short walk away from various restaurants and bars, two blocks away from Target and right down the street from the Denver Arts District.

When it comes to the inside of the Sheraton, the beauty extends. The rooms have been given a very contemporary feel with funky light fixtures and furniture, dim and cozy lighting, and comfy beds. The decor has elevated the rooms to a new level and you feel like your are staying in an urban castle thanks to large windows that line every room giving beautiful views of the downtown lights outside.

The second side of the Sheraton opposite the main entrance has conference areas and meeting rooms. You will also find a large gym with every piece of equipment you would want from a high-priced gym membership. Because the gym is so large you will never feel crowded or like you don’t have your own space to work out. On this same side, you will find the pool deck. This rooftop deck has a pool that is heated year-round as well as a jacuzzi. This is one of the only rooftop pools at a hotel in Denver. There is also a tower of guest rooms on this side as well. (I didn’t get a chance to ge to the pool, so picture coming soon when I make another visit).

Upon my most recent stay, I had the amazing experience of being hosted in one of the Sheraton’s presidential suites. You can book these by calling the hotel directly. There are multiple units like this on the property, but they offer such a fun space to celebrate or have get-togethers with large parties.

Our particular room was humongous. There was a conference table, a large kitchen/bar with bar seating, a pool table, a kitchen table, two different sitting areas, and a master bedroom attached. The master suite is one for the books. The bathroom has its own toilet room, a large walk-in shower with a waterfall head, double sinks… and my favorite… a huge soaking tub. I literally took 4 baths over the two nights I stayed there. That is NOT an exaggeration.

The bedroom has a large king bed and a counter that lines one of the walls of erring a great place to do your makeup or spread out your stuff. We got an additional room with two queen beds which opened up to the other side of the main sitting area. This is regularly a standard room but has that adjoining door, so you can add guest accommodations if you wish.

There was also an additional bathroom in the main suite for non-guests to use during their visit as well as a pool table! Could this place be any cooler?! We had THE best time.

We went out to dinner steps away from the hotel. There is no need to even catch a cab here. Then we made our way back to have a nightcap at Bezel downstairs and then all went up to the room to hang out for the rest of the evening. We played pool, watched movies, listened to music and danced around. It is the perfect setting for the girl’s night of a lifetime.

Regardless of the kind of room you stay in, the Sheraton goes above and beyond. They are super clean. The staff is superbly friendly and want to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, and the location doesn’t get any better. I highly recommend booking your next stay at this beautiful and affordable spot in the city.
