Charming is the first word that comes to mind when I think about the Kimpton Hotel Monaco. From the moment you walk in you feel a sense of ease like you have just escaped to the East Coast for a bit of a reprieve.
The lobby isn’t overly extravagant but superbly elegant, which lends to the simplicity of the place and the welcoming feeling when you enter. Everything is blue and grey and neutral, and the lighting is soft. There are plenty of areas to gather and it is a perfect place for a pre-dinner drink, which is convenient since Kimpton hotels offer free happy hour daily. One of the many perks of traveling Kimpton properties.
Once you make your way upstairs, you will see the same colors and inviting lighting throughout the halls and into the rooms. Simple, clean, and chic. It is a pattern that repeats itself and might even rub off on how you are feeling during your stay.
The rooms are alluring. Each adorned with contemporary light fixtures, cognac-colored leather headboards, modish wallpaper, and ultra-high ceilings with windows and curtains that match. This makes the room feel stately. I highly suggest wearing a floor-length silk bathrobe and carrying a glass of wine in your hand at all times while in the room.
The bathroom was beautiful. The lighting was forgiving and complimented the complexion. Everything was clean, fresh, and new. The rooms include a bathtub which is a huge box to check on my hotel musts. Who doesn’t want to soak in a bubble-filled tub with a glass of wine when they are doing a vacation/staycation?
The service was amazing. I was so flattered to have received a lovely plate of truffles and wine from the team at Hotel Monaco. This made my relaxation staycation that much better and accompanied my relaxing bathtub soak well.
The location is wonderful. It is a short walk to the light rail station if you have anywhere you want to go. It is in the middle of downtown and could not be more centrally located. They have a valet, which is a must when staying downtown. They also have one of the best Denver restaurants housed on the main floor.
Panzano is a Colorado favorite when it comes to Italian dining. They go above and beyond in their presentation, service, and offerings. Their fresh bread and spread that accompanies each meal is my favorite thing. They have pizza, pasta, and delicious salads and their happy-hour is well known as one of the most fun and delicious among my friends.
Hotel Monaco is a beautiful place to stay in the center of Downtown Denver. I can’t wait for future visits when I need to take some stress off and just relax. This space lends itself as a safe haven for those wishing to escape the normal day-to-day and be treated for the weekend.
